Schumpeter School EconLab

Welcome to the Schumpeter School EconLab, the experimental laboratory for economic research of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Wuppertal. The Schumpeter School EconLab is mainly used by Schumpeter School researchers to experimentally answer research questions, especially in the field of economics. Furthermore, the Schumpeter School EconLab is also used in teaching. Students are taught methodological skills in the area of collecting, processing and evaluating experimental data within the framework of courses. This knowledge can then be applied in final theses if necessary.

Experiments at the Schumpeter School EconLab

The experiments conducted in our experimental laboratory are generally designed to deepen our understand of how people make decisions. The results of these experiments are intended both to contribute to the formation of economic theory and to the further development of experimental economic research. In our laboratory experiments, participants make decisions under controlled conditions. The participants are paid for their participation, whereby the amount of payment also depends on the decisions made in the respective experiment. The participants receive detailed instructions so that they understand exactly what decision-making problems they face and how their payment depends on the decisions they make. In addition to experiments in the laboratory, internet experiments are also conducted.

Participation in experiments at the Schumpeter School EconLab

All students at the University of Wuppertal are welcome to participate in the experiments, regardless of their field of study. Only doctoral students are unfortunately excluded from participation for scientific reasons. As a rule, neither special knowledge nor previous experience is required for participation. In accordance with our data protection regulations, information about participation in experiments is, of course, treated as strictly confidential. Anonymity is also guaranteed in regard to the data obtained in experiments as well as the payment of the participants.
